Good Morning and welcome to this week’s edition of INSPIRATIONAL TIDBITS. Got your hurricane box packed yet? It’s been 5 years since the “big three” came through here – are we due again? Hey, the buildings we engineered in the last 5 years need a load test, don’t they? NOT. For today’s main course, we have a selection of something that there seems to be a never-ending supply of – the “dumb quote”. “My main hope for myself is to be where I am” - Woody Harrelson “I can’t tell you how grateful I am. I’m filled with humidity” - Gib Lewis “His previous wives just didn’t understand him” - Mickey Rooney’s 8th wife “I’ve been in 57 states, I think. One left to go” - Barack Obama “And now, the sequence of events, in no particular order” - Dan Rather “I can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel” - Stuart Pearce One more from our old buddy: “He’s an idiot. I-D-O-U-T. An idiot” - Shaquille O’Neal Let’s move on quick to the BRAINSQUEEZERS, before WE say something dumb. It’s all about animals today. 1. A woodpecker can peck how many times per second? ( eight; twenty; forty ) 2. A Zebra is ( white with black stripes; black with white stripes; neither ) 3. This breed of dog bites more people than any other breed ( German Shepherd; Pit Bull; Pomeranian ) 4. How many years does it take for a lobster to grow to be one pound? ( three; seven; eleven ) 5. You can feed hens dye, and make this part of their eggs come out colored. ( the white; the yolk; both ) TIEBREAKER: How long can a human tapeworm grow, in feet? (or meters, if you’re feeling metric) 70 Feet - Yuk! OBSCURE EXTRA BONUS QUESTION: A baby bird is called a chick, a baby bear is a cub, but what do you call a baby Shark? A Pup “HOW SOON THEY FORGET” BONUS QUESTION: In 2004, what were the names of the 3 hurricanes (in chronological order, please) that hit us? Charley, Frances & Jeanne We have a winner by tiebreaker today. Brian, Jodi, and Charley all got 4 right, but JODI guessed 25’ on the tiebreaker to beat out CJ (16’) and BO (18’). TB answers ranged far and wide – from 6’ way up to 200’. Most of you knew the first obscure question, with other answers including cub, calf, minnow, “cuddles”, “sushi”, and “lunch”. I guess everybody’s a comedian now. On the second obscure question, only Mike V, Norman, and Stephen got them all right AND in the right order. Others guesses included “Ivan” (which hit Florida, but not us), “Florence”, “Hanna”, and “Wilma”. Congrats to Jodi on the win today – and may the winds remain low this year. SEEYA.
